Yesterday finally came and went...duuhh. I would have blogged about this last night, but we didn't make it back home until 3:00 in the morning. Four or five months ago we had purchased tickets to see Saliva, Kiss, and Aerosmith in concert at the Smirnoff Music Centre in Dallas. We left Burk at 4:30 thinking that 2.5 hrs would be plenty of time to make it there by 7:00pm. Boy, were we ever wrong. Anyone who lives or has lived near Dallas know of what I speak. I had totally forgotten that the Texas State Fair was also in progress that same day and it was located next door to the Smirnoff Music Centre. At 6:00 we arrived at Loop 820 to hit one of our traffic jams. We creeped along for about 4 miles when traffic finally started picking up the pace. We took I-30 East towards Dallas and did fine all the way until we hit our exit at Barry/Munger Ave. If anyone who reads this part has ever been to the Smirnoff Music Centre, on any other normal day, can take the exit, travel to the parking lot, and be at the Centre in 10 to 15 minutes. To make a long story short, we didn't make it to the parking lot until 8:45. To make matters worse the parking lot we were in was the last available lot and we were pretty far away from the SMC. We arrived in the SMC at 9:10 and had missed all of Saliva and most of Kiss. We did get to hear 2.5 (uhoh, there's that number again) songs by Kiss and all of Aerosmith.
OK...The concert is over by 11:15, and we have the daunting pleasure of locating our vehicle. We exited in the direction that we thought we had arrived and walked quite a distance before arriving at a parking lot. We couldn't see our truck, so we turned around and walked back to the SMC to ask parking security where the other parking lots were located. When we arrived at SMC we were in a pretty big hurry to get to the concert. This is the information we had to relate to parking security...
1. It was the last available parking lot.
2. The sign said $20.00 for parking, but it only cost $7.00.
3. The light pole had NN stamped on it.
The parking attendant pointed us into the opposite direction to two more parking lots. A number of minutes had passed by this time, and most of the vehicles had already left. It made it easier to see that our vehicle wasn't there either. You can probably guess where we went next. You guessed it...we returned to SMC to find out if anyone was still there to assist us. By this time our feet were killing us and Kevin was getting (I won't mention the location) gaulded. Turns out there was one more parking lot farther away than any of the others. Alas! Our truck is there and it ONLY took an hour and a half to find it!
We hopped in the truck and a tune popped up in my head. I think Johnny Cash sang it. Lyrics go like this..."On the road again..."
Hey there! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was
wondering which blog platform are you using for this site?
I'm getting sick and tired of Wordpress because I've had problems with hackers and I'm looking at alternatives for another platform.
I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
We are a group of volunteers and starting a brand new scheme in our community.
Your web site provided us with helpful information to work on.
You've performed an impressive job and our entire community can be thankful to you.
Thanks very interesting blog!
