Last night, I talked to Mother on the phone. She said, "Do you know who you remind me of?" I knew immediately. Kathleen! I "have no time!"
The Master Chief at the Reserve Center encouraged me to have a retirement ceremony because it is important to have closure. She assured me that I don't have to do anything after I told her that I "have no time" to deal with planning such an event. Right! Well, I am up to my neck with preparations. So far, I have committments from five of six Sailors to serve as Side Boys, the vocalist is onboard (permanent member of Lyric Opera's chorus), I think that the Navy Band is reserved and I have the venue as well as a wonderful guest speaker and a dynamic Master of Ceremonies....still need a Bo'sun's Mate and a Bell Ringer. The Color Guard is reserved and there was going to be a drill exhibition but there is not enough room for the drill team members to safely thrown their rifles back and forth. Getting all of this done is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. I just hope that there are more persons in the audience than are participating in the ceremony!
School is winding down. I envision an all-weekender to complete both a paper and a PowerPoint presentation. After that, I just have to finish my practicum in addition to the practicum report and do well on the final exam. There are only four more weekly classes.
Bryan continues............... Spring is about to burst forth!
Life is good.
Wow, what an extravagansa! Sounds like it will be really nice.
Posted by: Cynthia on March 24, 2004 06:34 AMThe honor of your presence will really make the occasion really nice! I hope the stork cooperates.
Posted by: Leah on March 24, 2004 08:46 AMLeah, I am so proud of you...I will do my damnedest to be there. Of course having a bunch of hot men in uniform has nothing to do with my plans.
Meredith, I'm so happy that you are going to try to attend. With all of the planning, it should be quite a show - one that I hope all of the "civies" will really enjoy. See you in June!
Posted by: Leah on March 25, 2004 07:47 AMSounds as if you have things well in hand. I will either give you a call or send you an e-mail to discuss upcoming trip.
Posted by: Theresa on March 26, 2004 02:13 AMI have been corrected in definite words. "Bell Ringer" is neither nautical nor Navy - the title for the person who rings the bell is Time Orderly. You learn something new everyday!
Posted by: Leah on March 28, 2004 05:15 PMLeah, I am a Bell Ringer (G-A(6)), but I know'em all. My Time Orderliness, however, needs some work so I will not volunteer. Thank you for setting the record straight. Now, in the process of answering Margaret's e-mail about reserations, I've come here to learn the dates of the event(s)for which all are to gather for a General good time ... or should that be an Admiral good time. I am AUS Ret.
Without having learned anew the dates for the retirement/graduation, I am requesting One(1) reservations of the $59.00 variety for two(2).
And those dates are? I am bringing my date.
I'm getting weird errors on my browser.
