I am sure I've read about something like this in a sci-fi book somewhere. How completely bizarre to think that not only could this theoretically be done, it *has* been done!
Very strange to be typing with a baby on my lap sucking on my right forearm. I think she's given me a hickey . . .
Sometimes it's nice being the one nursing the baby, as I get saved from the more gruesome tasks . . . poor little Jonathan got a tummy bug Wednesday evening, and Dale was up with him at various points through the night as he threw up (until about 3:30 a.m., Dale reported the next morning). Unfortunately he had to miss his last two days of gymnastics camp because of it, and this was supposed to be his last hurrah with it--he's not signed up for anything else since kindergarten starts a week from Monday. He's all better now (Friday evening), but tonight it's been Dale who has spent the evening becoming very well acquainted with our toilet. I made an emergency rush to the drugstore to stop it coming out one end, but there's nothing to take for it coming out the other. And of course, every time he has to throw up it does horrible terrible things to his neck, which already causes him great pain just by existing. It seems to have passed now, but needless to say Kayleigh and I are sleeping in the guest room and I used Clorox wipes on all the faucet handles, doorknob handles, etc. Please, please, please don't let me get this! It looks horrible. I've even gotten out my breast pump in case it has to be washed and used. Eeeeeewwwwwwww.
With a little help from my sweetheart, who pumped up my bike tires for me and reattached the pedals, I just went out on a quick little 30-minute bike ride. It felt great! First time I've been on the bike since last fall. It's pretty hot outside but there was a nice breeze when on the bike; now I'm cooling down before hopping in the shower. I'm very proud of myself for getting out there and doing something good for my body.
And a happy coincidence is that I get my post-partum massage from our doula this afternoon. I've been waiting for that ever since I had Kayleigh! Hard to believe that's over two months ago.
My goal on the bike ride was to see if I could find a shortcut for walking to school (or rather, walking home from school) with Jonathan (kindergarten starts two weeks from Monday). I did find one, I think, but I'll need to walk it myself first to make sure I think it's okay to do as it involves walking past the area on the other side of our neighbor's at the end of the road.
