Jonathan has been coming out with some quite amazing pronouncements lately after watching a Nova program at school on the reproductive system. Nothing that I’ll reproduce here on a blog, but feel free to ask about his comments on going through puberty and what he informed Magda of (her reply was an indignant “I do not!”).
This evening he had his second taekwondo testing event and is now the proud possessor of a yellow belt, his third (first were white and orange). He was so confident this time, and he looked very practiced as he went through his form and sparring moves. My lovely boy!
After the testing, I went back to Jennifer’s (I had dropped the girls off on my way) to be an extra adult body as she was looking after a friend’s two children—a young three-year-old girl and a baby boy born last November. When I arrived, she was getting dinner together in the kitchen while the baby sat on a mat chewing soft objects, and the three girls were at the little table having a tea party with the set Kathleen sent a while ago. It was quite a nice tableau.
I was delighted as I got to give the baby both of his bottles, and we spent some lovely time together with him in the sling going to sleep on me for the night. It took a while since he was in an unfamiliar setting hearing unfamiliar voices, but he never got upset, and it was really sweet to feel a little body on mine going off to sleep.
Magda was pretty cute, coming out to sit next to me on the couch while he was eating and bringing me pictures of herself when she was a baby. Towards the end of the evening, Kayleigh decided she would read books to the other two girls for bedtime, so she sat in her throne (Magda’s car seat on the floor) while Magda and Maia lay on the floor with a pillow over them listening to their bedtime stories.
Later Jennifer got all three of them to sleep on Magda’s bed—they look so sweet when they are asleep! I’m sure Kayleigh will be disappointed when she wakes up in the morning back in her own bed and no Magda or Maia in sight. Hopefully her birthday party in the afternoon will raise her spirits!
