Jonathan Ran a Marathon

Busy day yesterday—had to get down in south Austin for Jonathan to run the final mile of the marathon he started last September. We all ran together (me holding the baby in the sling and with a backpack on my back—Kayleigh finally gave up the ghost and went to sleep halfway through), and Jonathan got quite a nice medal at the finish line. Even though it was very gray and misty, that was better than the incredible heat at the kickoff event. Afterwards we went to the Magnolia Cafe on south Congress for food. By the time we got home it was about 3:30 p.m.; hard to believe the day had gone by so fast. At least Dale and I were so stuffed from lunch that we didn’t want anything for dinner (but I must confess that about 9 p.m. we both suddenly realized we wanted the leftover curry from the night before and gobbled it down). I also managed to get us lost on the way there by misreading the map in my hurry, but Dale got us a ticket by parking on the sidewalk of the frontage road by the stadium. So glad it wasn’t me!

Today we are meeting some friends at Central Market at noon for a slightly damp soccer/football game and some food. We were going to go to Zilker Park, but with all this moisture we thought somewhere with cover might be better. Also maybe I can get some walking in; I used some of my birthday present from Lee et al. to get a nice pedometer, and I’m going to try to do this 10,000 steps thing I keep reading about. (Desperation creeps in—must get moving, somehow!) Yesterday I did just over 4000. I’m going to track it for a few days to see what my normal activity is.

Well done to Jonathan! Sounds like you all had a great time at the Final Mile though I really can't imagine even a slow jog with Kayleigh in the sling. I'm looking forward to getting more details from Jonathan next time I see him.
