I spoke with Grama Sprong on the phone this evening, and it does not sound to me as though she will ever get out of the “skilled nursing center”—i.e., nursing home. Her body (heart, specifically) just seems to be slowing down, but her mind has not yet done so. It makes me sad.
Posted by elizabeth at March 7, 2003 12:26 AMI'm sorry to hear she's not feeling any better. Did she get the flowers we sent her?
Posted by: Jfer on March 7, 2003 09:22 AMYes, she did, and she loved them very much and really appreciated you & your mom thinking of her. Unfortunately when I asked her to tell me what flowers were in the arrangement, she looked around to find them and discovered that when her dinner tray had been brought, the aides had moved the flowers and she could no longer see them. But she remembered tulips and roses, which are some of her favorite flowers.
I think Mom is planning to call you guys at the weekend to express Grama's thanks. I told Grama I'd make sure you both knew how pleased she was as well.
Posted by: Elizabeth on March 7, 2003 09:30 AMYour mom is true to her word. She called on Sunday morning and we had a nice chat, during which she conveyed Grama Sprong's gratitude.
