Fun Visit with Dad
It was a great week with Daddy visiting. Kayleigh was delighted with this presence the whole week long, and even this morning said she wished he didn’t have to go (specifically, she said she was “heartbroken”). At dinner this evening Jonathan remarked on how quiet and empty the house seemed without his Boppa in it. Many times this last week Kayleigh pushed to be allowed to leave with her Boppa so she could have some alone time with her Gram and Boppa (she mentioned spending some time in the basement, so Mom’s work on making that a fun retreat for the kids seems to be paying off)—who can imagine that eight-hour trip with Kayleigh and Boppa in the truck heading up to Kansas? I’m not sure who would be less sane in the end . . . might be a toss-up.

Stir-fry recipe; End of holidays
Tonight I modified a recipe from Helen Chen’s Chinese Home Cooking to suit my likes and dislikes and turned out quite a nice stir-fry for my papa and me. Yum.
Holidays ended today, and tomorrow Jonathan goes back to school, Dale back to work, and Kayleigh back to CAPS (albeit sans Magda). I am trying to get my dad to come to the gym with me tomorrow while the maids are here, but he is being stubborn.
I ended the holidays in rare fashion last night after spending the evening and a large part of the morning at my friend A’s place, along with our friend H. The purpose was to show our art challenge pieces to each other (the topic was “beginnings”), and we did that as well as solving the problems of the world. We met at A’s at 9 p.m. (after our kids’ bedtimes) and H. and I did not leave until 4 a.m. Even then we could have stayed longer but knew we had to go. I think we started saying around 1:30 a.m. that we needed to go home, but we couldn’t tear ourselves away and end the conversation. It was loads of fun.

Happy Birthday, Courtney and Matthew!
Happy Birthday to my twin cousins! I don’t know where Matthew is but am sure he’s enjoying himself compliments of the lovely Miranda, and Courtney usually has a good time wherever she is, so all must be well. (Congratulations too to Kathleen—I always feel the moms deserve a little recognition on their children’s birthdays.)
